Telehealth Consultations at Focus Osteopathy

Video Appointments With Our Practitioners

Not every appointment needs you in the room. A telehealth consultation is a video appointment with one of our practitioners, useful when you cannot get to the clinic, when you are following up on a plan already underway, or when you want advice before deciding whether to book in person.

Telehealth cannot replace hands-on treatment, and there are situations where we will tell you to come in instead. What it can do is keep your progress moving when getting to our Murrumbeena or Mount Waverley clinics is not practical.

When a Telehealth Appointment Makes Sense

Telehealth suits some situations better than others. These are the ones where it works well.

Reviewing Your Exercise Program

Your practitioner can watch you perform the movements, correct your technique and progress the Program from there.

Following Up After an In Clinic Visit

Checking how you have responded to treatment, answering questions and adjusting the plan without another trip in.

You Cannot Get to the Clinic

Travel, work commitments, illness, mobility limitations or living too far away to attend regularly.

You Want Advice Before Booking In

A conversation about what is going on and whether coming in is worth your time.

How a Telehealth Consultation Works

You will receive a link before your appointment. All you need is a device with a camera, a stable connection and enough space to move around in view of the screen.

The appointment covers much of what an in-clinic assessment does, minus the hands-on component. Your practitioner will ask about your symptoms and history, guide you through movements while watching how you perform them, and talk through what they are seeing.

You will finish with a plan, which may include exercises, advice on managing the problem day to day, or a recommendation to come into the clinic. Telehealth may be helpful for some presentations and not others, and your practitioner will tell you plainly if what you need cannot be done over video.

Getting the Most Out of Your Appointment

Four things that make a video appointment work better.

Set Up Your Space First

Clear enough room to stand, move and lie down if needed, with your device positioned so your whole body is visible.

Wear Something You Can Move In

Your practitioner needs to see how you move, so clothing that allows that helps.

Have Your Details Ready

Any scan results, referrals or a list of what you have tried so far are useful to have on hand.

Write Down Your Questions

It is easy to forget them on a video call, so a short list beforehand is worth it.

Why Book a Telehealth Consultation With Us?

Here is what a telehealth appointment at Focus Osteopathy offers.

The Same Practitioners You See in Clinic

You are speaking with our own team, who have access to your history rather than starting from nothing.

An Honest Assessment of What Video Can Do

If your problem needs hands-on treatment, we will say so rather than booking you into something that is not suitable.

Continuity With Your In Person Care

Your telehealth appointments and clinic visits form one record, so nothing is repeated or lost between them.

Access When Getting In Is Difficult

Distance, work, travel or mobility do not have to interrupt your progress.

Practical Focus on What You Can Do

Appointments can concentrate on exercise, technique and self management, which are the areas video handles well.
